George Connor
- Inducted August 2nd, 1975
- Attended Holy Cross College, then went to Notre Dame and became an All-American in 1946 and 1947
- Selected Number 1 in 1948
- Chest measured 53 inches at one point with the Bears
- Sports writer Grantland Rice called him: "the closest thing to a Greek god since Apollo"
- Was all-NFL at three different positions - offensive tackle, defensive tackle, and linebacker
- In 1951 and 1952, Connor received All-NFL honors on both offense and defense, something Connor considers
to be his "biggest thrills in football"
- On one series in the 1952 Pro Bowl, Connor stopped a runner for a loss on first down, stopped the run
on second down, sacked the quarterback on third down, and batted down the fourth down pass
- George Halas commented: "We set high standards for Connor as a player and he exceeded them. He
parlayed leadership and intelligence and fine ability into one of the great careers of our time"
